Functions of UNITE (As stipulated in the Instrument)
As stipulated in the establishing instrument, the functions of UNITE include:
- Providing niche-based education Programmes for pre-service and in-service teachers in pre-primary, primary, and post-primary education.
- Offering teacher education Programmes for trainee teachers.
- Providing education, training, and development Programmes for career progression pathways.
- Monitoring, evaluating, and periodically reviewing teacher education Programmes and courses.
- Conducting and facilitating research, innovation, and community engagement related to teacher education.
- Publishing and disseminating research findings and innovations.
- Developing and conducting Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programmes in collaboration with relevant regulatory bodies.
- Offering pedagogical support to higher education institutions in Uganda.
- Organizing conferences, seminars, workshops, and teacher study groups.
- Performing any other functions necessary to achieve the Institute’s objectives.
