DEPUTY VICE CHANCELLOR – ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Prof. Proscovia Namubiru Ssentamu is the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs at UNITE. She is a Professor of Education and one of Uganda’s leading scholars in curriculum studies, teacher education, quality assurance, and educational leadership.

She has played a pivotal role in the establishment and academic development of UNITE and brings over 30 years of experience in higher education, research, policy development, institutional capacity building, and teacher professional development.

Prof. Namubiru holds a PhD in Education from the University of Bayreuth (Germany), a Master of Arts in Curriculum Studies from the University of London, a Master of Education in Curriculum Studies from Makerere University, and a Bachelor of Arts with Education from Makerere University. She also holds postgraduate qualifications in Educational Technology, Human Resource Management, and Quality Assurance from the University of Cape Town, Uganda Management Institute, and the University of Melbourne respectively.

Throughout her distinguished career, she has worked extensively with universities, governments, and development partners across Africa and beyond on projects funded by organisations such as UNESCO, UNICEF, USAID, the European Union, NORAD, the World Bank, ENABEL, the MasterCard Foundation, and the Commonwealth of Learning.

Her expertise spans curriculum reform, teacher education policy, academic quality assurance, competency-based education, institutional accreditation, digital learning, and educational innovation.

Prof. Namubiru currently co-chairs the Uganda National Bureau of Standards Technical Committee on Education and Learning Services Standards and serves as the inaugural Chairperson of the DIGI FACE Quality Assurance Body overseeing DAAD-funded African Centres of Excellence.

She is also a respected researcher, reviewer, editor, mentor, and external examiner for doctoral and postgraduate Programmes across several universities.

Her contribution to teacher education and quality assurance continues to shape educational transformation and professional standards in Uganda and across the region.
