Prof. Joyce Ayikoru Asiimwe

Assoc. Prof. Joyce Ayikoru Asiimwe serves as the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration at UNITE. She provides strategic leadership in institutional planning, administration, financial management, organizational development, and resource mobilization.

She holds a PhD in Education from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), as well as Master of Education and Bachelor of Arts with Education degrees from Makerere University.

With nearly three decades of experience in higher education, leadership, teacher education, and project management, Prof. Ayikoru has distinguished herself as a transformative education leader and institution builder.

Prior to joining UNITE, she held several senior leadership positions at Mbarara University of Science and Technology and Kyambogo University, including Head of Department, Associate Dean, Dean of the School of Education, and Chairperson of the Kyambogo University COVID-19 Taskforce.

She has coordinated and led numerous local and international projects and partnerships, including collaborations with the University of Cambridge, the Commonwealth of Learning, Erasmus+ initiatives, and digital learning projects aimed at integrating ICT in teaching, learning, and assessment.

Prof. Ayikoru was also Vice Chairperson of the UNITE Taskforce and later served on the Interim Management team responsible for operationalizing the Institute.

Her expertise includes educational leadership, organizational development, teacher education, project coordination, strategic management, and policy implementation.

Beyond university administration, she has contributed to national education development through service on advisory boards, university councils, and educational policy platforms.
