ADVERT FOR ADMISSIONS ON GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE SPONSORSHIP FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2026/2027
The Uganda National Institute for Teacher Education (UNITE) was established on 5th July 2024 by Statutory Instrument No. 53 of 2024 under the existing Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, Cap 262 as Other Degree Awarding Institution. UNITE was established as a multi-campus Institution with Campuses at Kabale, Kaliro, Mubende, Muni, Unyama, and the Main Shimoni Campus in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District. UNITE’s mandate is to provide all levels of Teacher Education in the country, ranging from initial teacher training to graduate level training. In addition, it is to provide in-service teacher training and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes. The five campuses offer Bachelors’ Degrees and Diplomas in Teacher Education as indicated in Table I of this advert. UNITE also offers the in-service Diploma in Education (Primary) and the in-service Diploma in Education (Pre-primary) in the 23 Core PTCs. All advertised programmes are accredited by Uganda National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).

The Office of the Academic Registrar calls for applications from eligible applicants for the Academic Year 2026/2027 under the following sponsorship schemes:
- GOVERNMENT SPONSORSHIP FOR BOTH PRE-SERVICE AND IN-SERVICE PROGRAMMES IN UNITE CAMPUSES
One hundred (100) slots are available for Government Sponsorship for both Pre-service and In-service programmes of which 5% are allocated to Diploma and 95% to degree programmes. The slots are allocated as follows: Bachelor of Education Secondary (58); Bachelor of Education Primary (29); Bachelor of Education Pre-Primary (8); and Diploma in Education (Primary-5). Please note that Government sponsored students pay Functional Fees.
- PRIVATE SPONSORSHIP FOR BOTH PRE-SERVICE AND IN-SERVICE PROGRAMMES IN UNITE CAMPUSES
Admissions are open to all eligible applicants for all the under-listed programmes. Please note that privately sponsored students pay both Tuition and Functional Fees.
- GOVERNMENT SPONSORSHIP FOR THE DIPLOMA SCHEME IN THE 23 CORE PTCs
Admissions are open to in-service teachers wishing to pursue the Diploma in Education (Primary) and Diploma in Education (Pre-primary) programmes. Please note that Government Sponsored students pay Functional Fees.
Eligible applicants can also apply for a fees loan from the Higher Education Students Financing Board, Ministry of Education and Sports.
Admission Schemes: 1) Direct (UACE) Entry for prospective Pre-service students; 2) Diploma Entry; 3) Certificate Entry: Grade III, Higher Education Certificate and Mature Age.

- Application Fee is UGX 55,000 payable to Uganda Revenue Authority following the instructions in Table 2 below.

- Applicants with academic qualifications obtained from Institutions outside Uganda, shall attach copies of equivalency obtained from UNEB, UVTAB and NCHE, as may be applicable.

Online Application
- Access the Online Application Form URL https://apply.unite.ac.ug/
- Sign up using your full name, e-mail and mobile number.
- A One Time Password (OTP) will be sent to both your e-mail and mobile number.
- The system will prompt you to change the password to the one you can easily remember.
- To fill the form, chose the preferred scheme: (1) Direct Entry; (2) Diploma Entry; (3) Certificate Entry, then click on APPLY NOW.
- Fill all the sections in the form, check the consent box and submit the competed form.
- Generate the Payment Reference Number (PRN) and pay to URA through Mobile Money or Agent Bank.
